    • Dingo Dinkelman I live in West Texas, obviously that’s in the states. I would hope every one on Earth would know where Texas is. I was wondering personally what it’s like to live in South Africa. I would love to visit but you hear a lot of bad things about the crime there. Just how dangerous is it there? We are all armed to the teeth here in Texas so there’s not really big crime like in other parts of the world.

  • Just curious do you have any kind of reaction to python bites at all, even though they are not venomous there are some tiny traces of similar chemicals in the saliva does nothing to most people, I have mild reactions to it, luckily my snakes very very rarely bite me, just the occasional hatchie or feeding mishap and I never used to react but now I get a welt and get really itchy and sometimes get a mild hayfever reaction Im allergic to a lot of things, I get seriously bad reactions to mosquito bites more than 10 bites and I swell up all over and get sick and have to take medication but I think I may be developing an allergy to something in python saliva and hope it dosn't get worse lol.

    joseph brownjoseph brown5 kuukautta sitten
  • M Dingo one bite and that’s it with that allergy. You should do an hyposensitization. You’ve got the venom in your facility and should work on a regime to administer extremely small amounts. Get help from allergy expert how to do that. Good luck and stay healthy :)

  • You should use a filter needle to draw out of an ampule to avoid aspirating broken glass and accidentally injecting it.

    lmazcrazlmazcraz5 kuukautta sitten
  • The gauge of that needle you're using for injection is HUGE! There are much smaller needles that would be sufficient and would be much more comfortable for a subcutaneous injection.

What’s crazy, I dated a girl who was in nursing school at the time, and I magically lost all my fear of needles for a couple month. During that time I let her use me as a pin cushion, so she could practice drawing blood for school. Isn’t it crazy how that works, the things ppl will do to try and impress somebody! LoL

Once my wife gave our daughter something against her pain and forgot to wash her hands. After that she just startet to cook and right after we finished dinner, i startet to feel that my tongue began to become double her size. It was just a touch of a painkiller and we had to call a doctor for me. Dingo stay safe out there. Dont stop doing what you love, but becareful my guy. • Dingo: You are probably both one of the most qualified people alive to be opening a container like that with a venomous snake inside AND someone who should avoid doing that at all cost. But you put yourself in harm's way to care for these animals that are too dangerous for most people to handle. Then as you always say, you bring us through the camera, you let us look behind the curtain to in some small way know what it's like to work with these animals. I am glad thought that it's you whos the one actually there because I don't think I'd last a day, maybe not a hour. Stay clear of that venom! Thanks for the great educational content.

  • So, you injected first with about 0.5 - 1 mL of epinephrine. Then you said you take pills. Are they diphenhydramine and chlorpheniramine maleate? Are there others?

    Michael HoganMichael Hogan5 kuukautta sitten
    • It wasn’t an epi. I only use epi when envenomated. It was just a strong cortisone which helps with the itching, puffy eyes etc

      Dingo DinkelmanDingo Dinkelman5 kuukautta sitten
    • Adrenaline is what you need immediately to prevent airway swelling and shock but it unfortunately doesn't last very long. In addition you need antihistamines (such as chlorphenamine) and steroids which work on the inflammation over hours and days. In the ED I'd give IV Hydrocortisone but outside hospital there are oral versions such as Prednisolone.

  • Not many people continue to work in an environment where they are exposed to an allergen as part of their everyday work, different for you when it is your vocation and passion. Although I saw the venom eject clearly at you when the snake spat, I could see no venom when the snake spat repeatedly at your brother. It is surprising how hard it was to see the venom eject, it would be easy to be 'tagged' by it without realising at first. It was a 'subtle' spitting technique. (sounds weird I know), but you could clearly see the amount on your brother's face shield. Thank goodness you are alright, if not itching and crawling - I know that one, I once sat in a bath of (too) hot water just to take away the itching sensation from an allergic reaction, it is intolerable.
